The 23rd Thing!

Yayyyyyyyyyy!
I have arrived at last.I look back in awe of what I have achieved since taking up the challenge of Web 2 and I have come to the conclusion this experience has been a great learning curve for me.I love the image generators, I created my own chocolate bar called the Forrestbabe Delight, have my own street named after me, and have my name printed on sand at the beach.
I have enjoyed the social networking part, because it has given me the opportunity to look at other sites such as Facebook and myspace. I am a bebo fan myself and I find that I can apply more applications on my blog that on my bebo page. I have learned about RSS feeds, Wiki,De.licious,Zoho Writer, Google Docs, E-books, podcasts, and last but not least is YouTubes my absolute favourite discovery so far.

Check out the above site for e-books. There is a list of the top 100 E-Books and also the top 100 authors, and you get to do a search on its catalog.
I came across this e- book called"The count of Monte Cristo" which can be read online or downloaded for free.

Podcast!

What is Podcast?
The word is a combination of the words broadcast and ibod Apples MP3 player.Podcast.com has a list of the most listened to and watched podcasts for the month.I have already signed up and have subscribed to Modiba Afrikast Series.I have itunes downloaded on my home computer, and when I have time I will add the list to my blog.

Where do I start? I had such a great time on You Tubes, that I got a bit carried away this weekend with watching all the videos that before long I had spent hours just watching one after the other. I did a search and came across this song that my cousins from America sang at our family reunion in Samoa at the end of last year.I also got to watch perfomances from others of some of my favourite Samoan songs.You Tube can be used in libraries to provide visual aids for teaching the patrons how to use the catalogue efficiently and effectively.

What I like about Zoho writer:
The documents can be saved online, and can be accessed anywhere, no need to carry USB or disks around.
I can export this file as a Word or .txt file document, which makes it easy to use inside Word
Email feature is easy to use. This document can be emailed as a Word file, .pdf document,etc
being able to publish a document as a public file.
being able to use Zoho as a text editor and then publish document on blog
love all the features especially the strikethrough.
Will definitely point this out to some of our learn net users....Its about preferences and choices really.

Social Networking ( week 7)

Take your pick! Social networking sites such as Bebo, Facebook and My Space are all popular sites, but Bebo gets my vote. I have a private bebo page, that only my "friends" can access. These friends include realtives or whoever I accepted to be a friend. I like the wide variety of applications that BEBO offers, but most of all I love the fact that I can change my bebo skin as many times as I choose, and also have the choice of copying someone elses that appeals to me. Bebo has also enable me to view my friends photographs, you tubes, widgets, play lists etc.
It is a great way of keeping in contact with relatives and friends, and you have a choice of deleting friends off your friends list.
